Toni Kroos, the German national team midfielder, has announced his retirement from football after the 2024 European Championship. The 34-year-old made the announcement in his podcast, Einfach mal Luppen, on Thursday.
Kroos, who was born in Greifswald, East Germany, in 1990, is regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation. He has won numerous titles with both club and country, including the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022.
Kroos has made over 100 appearances for the German national team and has scored 17 goals. He was a key member of the team that won the FIFA World Cup in 2014.
Kroos's retirement will be a major loss for the German national team. He is one of the most experienced and influential players in the squad.
